Our verdict
ChatGPT and Gemini are the two most widely used AI assistants in the world, and the choice often comes down to your existing software ecosystem. ChatGPT offers a broader feature set including custom GPTs, a mature plugin marketplace, and DALL-E image generation. Gemini counters with tighter Google integration and a higher context window on its advanced tiers. If you're deep in the Google ecosystem, Gemini wins. For everyone else, ChatGPT's polish and community make it the stronger overall product.

competition is good. both have gotten dramatically better just because the other one exists
chatgpt for work, gemini for personal stuff. that's my setup based on integrations with other tools I use
@br4in_rot gemini 2.5 pro is actually very close now. tried it last month and was genuinely surprised
been on chatgpt since gpt3.5 and honestly gemini still hasn't caught up on pure output quality for me
@xkurai_91 underrated point. the gap between free and paid is very different on each platform
gemini's free tier is way more capable than chatgpt free. if you can't or won't pay gemini wins easily
@luna_2049 voice mode on chatgpt is way more mature too. gemini voice still feels like a beta
chatgpt has the better mobile app experience honestly. that matters a lot when you use it every day
@notgpt_lol yeah if you use gmail and drive daily gemini just makes more sense. otherwise chatgpt
chatgpt for the ecosystem, gemini for google. the split is pretty obvious depending on your workflow
