Rankly AI
About us

The AI leaderboard built by the community, for the community.

Rankly AI exists because choosing the right AI tool is genuinely hard. Vendors market their own models, benchmarks are gamed, and most "reviews" are just recycled press releases. We wanted something different: a transparent, community-powered ranking that changes as the models change.

Our mission

AI is evolving faster than any publication can keep up with. A model that was best-in-class three months ago might have been leapfrogged twice since then. Static articles and annual "best AI" lists don't cut it anymore.

Rankly AI updates every week. When a model ships a major update, we re-evaluate it. When the community shifts its opinion, the scores reflect that. We're not affiliated with any AI provider, and we don't accept payment to influence rankings.

We believe in transparency: every score has a breakdown, every ranking decision has a rationale, and every model gets an equal shot at the top based on actual merit.

Our long-term goal is to become the most trusted source for AI model rankings globally: the kind of resource you bookmark and return to every time you're evaluating a new tool.

How it works

01

We gather data

Our team collects performance data, pricing information, and release notes for every tracked model. We also run standardized benchmark prompts across categories like writing, coding, and research to build a baseline quality score.

02

The community votes

Real users vote on models they've actually used. Community votes carry 30% of the total score, enough to meaningfully influence rankings but not so much that gaming is worthwhile. One vote per user per model per week.

03

We publish the rankings

Every Sunday, scores are recalculated and the leaderboard is updated. Models that shipped major updates get a freshness boost. New arrivals are flagged so the community can evaluate them quickly.

Our principles

No paid rankings
AI companies cannot pay to influence their position on this leaderboard. Ever.
Full transparency
Every score has a visible breakdown. You can always see exactly why a model ranked where it did.
Recency matters
A model from 2023 that hasn't been updated loses freshness points. Stale AI shouldn't stay at the top.
Community over experts
Real users doing real tasks produce better signal than lab benchmarks. We weight community votes heavily.
