Our verdict
Claude edges ahead in pure output quality. Its writing is more nuanced, its reasoning more careful, and it handles long, complex instructions better than ChatGPT. However, ChatGPT wins on ecosystem: its plugin library, image generation via DALL-E, and sheer brand recognition make it the more practical daily driver for most people. If writing quality is your top priority, choose Claude. If you want one tool that does everything well, ChatGPT remains the safer bet.

people sleeping on gpt o1 for reasoning. that's where it actually closes the gap on claude
crazy
both have gotten so good it's almost unfair to compare. pick your priority and stick with it
@coldtake_dan this is the real differentiator. no competition at that context length
200k context window is the entire reason I switched to claude and never went back. fed it a whole codebase
claude 3.5 sonnet changed my mind completely. before that I was chatgpt all the way
they're different tools. use both. claude for thinking, gpt for doing
@m4rcelo the claude mobile app does feel half finished compared
voted chatgpt bc of the app experience honestly. the polish matters when you use it every day
@notgpt_lol fair but for long documents claude isn't even close. fed it a 300 page contract and it was flawless
